Lovable old Pluto. (yes, I'm being sarcastic.)

OK, Pluto has been in Sagittarius for a few years now (first entered January 1995, left for a bit March 1995, and has been there ever since October 1995.) Many of us have had it cross our Moon, with the resulting trauma. If it has crossed yours, how did it manifest? (If you don't know, send me the degree of your Moon, or your birth info, and I'll tell you when Pluto hit it.)

I've talked to some people who had this transit who only talked of emotional turmoil, not an actual life changing event. In my case, though, it was both.

When it first moved into orb of the conjunction with my Moon, my mother was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. At the time I found out, I had been living in California for for two months.

As the Pluto reached the exact conjunction with my Moon, I had to move from the place I was staying because of a major falling out with my roommate. The new place, with new roommates, was very emotionally chaotic, and I ended up moving to another place after only three months. And all this time was stressing over my mother.

Other things in California were getting to me too, simple day to day things like missing the changes of seasons. I packed up my stuff and began driving back east as Pluto again came in orb of conjunction to my Moon.

Over the next several months, I went to visit my mother as often as possible, and tried (without success) to get her to consider alternate treatments. She swore by the attending physician, who was a relative of ours, and being a Sun conjunct Uranus in Aquarius, and probably a Taurus rising, she was very stubborn about it. There were a few good moments, and some relapses, as the Moon passed over my Moon, then retrograded again. In August 1999, Pluto went stationary direct around 7 Sag 44 (my Moon is 7 Sag 07), my mother turned very ill, went in a coma 8 days after the station, and died two dies later.

  • okay, now you are scaring me! I'm assuming that Pluto could have passed over our moon several times during this time. My moon is 20 Sag 39. When has it passed over mine. I've been told that it Pluto is suppose to make a station on my moon in Sept., is that correct?
    • Sorry, Rae, didn't mean to scare you, honest. But I wanted to bare my soul first, so people would not be afraid to tell their Pluto tales.

Pluto will station in early September just a few minutes before 22 degrees Sagittarius. So it will be near your Moon, but not on it. It's never going to get all the way back to 20 again in your lifetime, so in my opinion you already experienced the worst it can give you...whatever you experience in September will be like closure for you.

If you want to share any stories of what you've experienced, I'm very interested to hear them. If not, that's ok...Pluto transits sometimes feel very private to the person.

      • Well, I was currious when Pluto may have crossed my moon prior to now since my mother had cancer and a double massectomy in 98. Interestingly enough, I had broken off an engagement and moved home from Colorado to Oregon to help her through this process. I was there for about 4 months and then moved to Az and now CA. Odd enough, I am selling my house in order to move home for good now. I will be really interested to see if I end up getting there around the time of the station in Sept.
        • Well, you have your Moon at 20 Sag 39, if I remember correctly. I tend to notice Pluto's transiting influence when it reaches about 5 degrees prior to a major sensitive point, and up to three degrees after, so let's look in the ephemeris for 15 Sag 39 to 23 Sag 39:
It first reached 15 Sag 39 in late December 2001, getting only as far as around 17-1/2 degrees in March 2002 before going stationary and retrograding away, out of orb by late June of that year.
Mid October 2002, it again reached 15 Sag 39, getting almost to 20 degrees Sag before turning stationary retrograde mid-March 2003....that one you may have felt pretty strongly......but not moving out of orb this time....turning direct Sept 2003 in the 17th degree, actually crossing your moon early January 2004.
About March 24, 2004, it went stationary at 22 Sag 14...so you proably felt that one...crossing back over your Moon at around June 20th.
August 30, it stationed again at 19 Sag 32...very close to your Moon.
November 5, it again crossed over your Moon.

There's your Pluto history. It can't just hit a planet and be gone...it's got to linger!
          • Very interesting. Yes, lots of stuff corresponding to these dates. Oct. 15th, 02 I made a leap of faith and moved from Az to Ca into my first house with the intention of finally really going after my dream of being an artist. The first 6 months out here was extiemly lonely and confusing. Very emotional. In March '04 I decided I was going to take out a loan and do my art work full time and you know, I think it was the 24th that I was going to talk to my boss about a leave of absence and I ended up getting fired! End of Aug. I decided to start a bronze class and get all of my sculptures in bronze and I was just really starting to fall for a guy I was dating, we ended in Nov.

So yeah, definate influences, but not all bad! Some are rough emotionally, but all in all, nothing that was devistating like yours Zane. So, will the little bastard (Pluto) be done with us after it goes direct in Sept??
            Rae
            • Very ineresting, Rae.
Not all of mine were bad....I got a chance to live in California for awhile, which opened my eyes and taught me a lot. I got a chance to drive cross country twice....see places I'd only heard about, walk in the desert, see my first wild jack-rabbit, meet new friends.
I was definitely changed by the positive as well as the difficult events.

Pluto may be done with some people, but some of us (myself included) have other parts that will be experiencing Pluto after that. (Most notably an opposition to my 26 Gemini Sun!)

Can I sleep for the next two years? LOL

Also me and my family moved to the far west suburbs of chicago.. So me and my family had to get used to living in the suburbs. I had to get used to going to a suburban school, than a chicago public school. I can say that it was a transformation in my life.
  • i have no idea when pluto crossed my moon. if you can tell me that would be great.
my date of birth is july 26,1977 born at 3:30pm in lima, peru.
    • Hi, Magenta,
If I did the math correct, your Moon is at 14 Sag 12.
Pluto was in orb as early as December 1999, stationary retrograde March 15 2000 at 12 Sag 54, stationary direct Aug 20, 2000 at 10 Sag 09.
First actual passage January 13, 2001. Stationary retrograde March 17, 2001 at 15 Sag 16. Exact conjunction again May 24, 2001, stationary direct Aug 23, 2001 at 12 Sag 32.
Third exact conjunction November 12, 2001.
      Stationary retrograde March 20, 2002, 17 Sag 37.
Stationary direct Aug 26, 2002, 14 Sag 54...very close to your Moon.

  • I'm finding it increasingly freaky how much astrology links up with so much that happens in our life. I'm sorry for your loss Zane.

I have no idea aswell if it's crossed mine. If ít's no trouble for you to find out for me my birth info is 24th June 1983 7:13pm.
    • Happy to, LeeLee, but I don't remember where you were born, and I need that to look up your chart.

      Zane
      • silly me.

        Brisbane, Australia.

        Thanks!

        • Hi, LeeLee,

Looks like your Moon is 21 Sag 24.
Using a 5 degree applying orb, Pluto reached 16 Sag 24 on Jan 11, 2002, but didn't stay in orb long....went stationary retrograde 17 Sag 37 on March 20, back out of orb June 1.
November 11, again reached 16 Sag 24, going as far as 19 Sag 57 before it went stationary again on March 23, 2003.
August 28, 2003, it went direct again 17 Sag 14.
The first actual crossing over your Moon occurred on Jan 28 2004.
Pluto went stationary March 24, 2004 at 22 Sag 14, then making the second passage over your Moon on May 23 2004.
August 30, Pluto went direct at 19 Sag 32, making its final exact conjunction to your Moon on Nov 26 2004.

Like I said, the little guy just likes to hang around forever!
  • So my moon is 2 degrees 36' 58 whatever that means. So what's the deal with pluto for me?
    • So, Jorga, it's been several years since Pluto crossed over your Moon.

Pluto first came into orb of your Moon in 1994, but it was not until January 1995 that Pluto entered early Sagittarius.
In April 1995, it retrograded back into Scorpio, then back into Sagittarius November 1995. From here the influence should have been strong for awhile.
It crossed over your Moon in January 1996, starionary retrograde about 3 Sagittarius in March, back over your Moon in April.
August 1996, Pluto went stationary direct around 0 Sagittarius.
November 1996, it again crossed over your Moon.
March 1997, it went stationary retrograde around 5-1/2 Sagittarius, and in August 1997, made the last station that should have influenced your Moon, at about 2 Sag 50.

  • Pluto started trining my sun and conjucting my moon this past year. I've had some wonderful things happen because of pluto trine sun- my life has really changed for the better.

I wasn't aware of pluto conjuncting my moon until recently. I haven't had much more emotional tormoil than usual- maybe a little more intensity to it, but on the whole it's been pretty bland for a pluto aspect. Of course now that I've said that the next year of the transit could be overwelming for all I know.

I did have to poison some rats that were trying to move into my place, but other than that not much I'd consider plutonic with the moon.
  • I know this is an old post, but I just recently joined the tribe and happened to read about Pluto transits earlier today. I've read that when Pluto transits your natal moon it could mean the death of a female relative and/or issues dealing with women. After reviewing my chart, I saw that I did have some major events take place during the transit. I was out of the country when my step-sister, only 16 yrs old, had a car accident and died. That was on July 11, 2006.
My moon is 7deg 44 Sag and Pluto was 10 deg 35' Sag. I ended up coming home early and had a terrible time with the air ways helping me get home. That year was full of spiritual events also. I was a missionary and had some spiritual awakenings as well as major changes in my perception of religion. It was very transformative, to say the least, in so many ways. Thanks Zane for bringing this topic up. I've checked the charts for all those I know and thankfully none of them have an upcoming transit any time soon.

Sorry to hear about your sister.

My DAD almost died this past year. He is a sagitarious. He went through something pretty dramatic and scarey hospital stays but pulled out of it. Heavy internal bleeding, respitory cardiac etc- several emergency transfusions; sounded like hanta virus to me. The docs said it was his drinking. He rarely drinks...

My Dad is a sag and my Mom is a capricorn. I have jupiter in cap. A lot of moon things seem to go to or stem from my dad and a lot of jupiter things to my Mom.

        Lynn,
Keep us updated about your Pluto's transit. I can't believe how much we have the opportunity to share such deep experiences with each other without even really knowing each other. Sorry to hear about Dad's time in the hospital. I also just lost my Grandma to a blood infection she apparently got from the hospital. Glad to hear that your Dad pulled through it. Hopefully you will have a peaceful time with Pluto. Maybe you have Jupiter helping you out...Guess it depends on the rest of your chart!

zane, how do you figure when pluto transitted?

    very interesting . . .

      MsLady,
One way you can do it is to go to Astro.com. I'm hoping you are familiar with it. On their extended chart selection you can input the date you want to inquire about and choose the option for "Natal Chart and Transits." I just keep changing the date until I get to the closest point of the transit. Pluto should have transited 11deg 45 sag around 8/9 November 2000. I felt the effects for a few months though. Of course, I'm sure Zane could offer a little more insight. That's just the way I started to look up my past transits.

Ideally, to figure out when Pluto transits over something, you would either use a calculation program to run your transits, or a website like astro.com, or else get an ephemeris and look it up.
      Free software: www.zanestein.com/Astrology...eesoftware
And here are some ephemerides, both to purchase, and free online: www.zanestein.com/Astrology...#ephemeris

Here is a very rough ephemeris for Pluto for the first of each year from 1970-2006. Look for the position of your planet, Sun, Moon, or cusp, and find the nearest degrees to that position. You can be sure that Pluto transited over that point in your chart within a year either way of that date. So for example, if your Moon is 11 Sag 45, you can see that Pluto was close to it on January 1, 2000 (at 11 Sag 27'.) So you can be sure Pluto transited it during 2000, and possibly during part of 1999 or 2001 as well.

But to get the exact dates, you need something more precise, as mentioned in my first paragraph.

      PLUTO -- longitude

Thanks Zane for posting all of the insightful information.

I'm still confused about how to figure that transit regarding Pluto. My natal chart shows my moon 03 Sag 23'. I'm seeing anything close to that. Or am I just not getting this?
